April is the best month to head out on a cheap, much-needed vacation. Why April? Most people prefer tropical vacations in the months leading up to March. During winter, people find themselves needing to get away and hotels take advantage of it. Our advice: Hold off 2 months longer and save money in the process. During the month of April, you can still find perfect weather combined with lower hotel and flight prices for many desirable locations.
Most of Latin America has perfect weather in April, yet oddly enough, April is the hottest month in much of S.E. Asia. So, save your adventure filled trips for the cooler months and head to a sunny beach in April. Even destinations with hot, humid weather can be quite bearable if your plan is to sit on a breezy beach sipping frozen cocktails.
You won’t find a better month to visit Lima, Peru. The day temperatures are perfect for all activities and the nights are mild too. Oh, and average precipitation of 0” isn’t a typo. There is virtually no chance of rain throughout the month of April, so leave your rain ponchos at home folks. Want to know the best part? April is the first month of off-season for hotels AKA prices are low and streets are less crowded.
During April the weather cools off and the summer rush on Buenos Aires has subsided. April’s weather is iffy but Buenos Aires is a cultural city and much to see is indoors. 73 degrees is the perfect weather for hikes and other outdoor activities but it’s not necessarily beach weather and there is no need for a bikini. April is the first month off-season for hotels, so you can find great deals on just about any hotel. 3 and 4-star hotels give you the best bang for your buck because without deals, they would otherwise find their rooms empty. In Argentina, April is the best time to dive into the cultural aspects of Latin America because you will be with the locals as opposed to tourist.
While the Canary Islands have fairly mild weather all year round, April is the perfect time to travel there. Although it's a bit too cool to sit on the beach most days, in April the crowds thin out a bit before they pick back up in summer. Even though it is still technically “high tourist season”, April is a great time to get deals at some of the more desirable places.
Until the end of April, Cape Town is typically warm and dry pretty much every day. It’s a great time to visit, as long as you aren’t specifically going to sit on the beach. It’s the last month of high season for hotels. However, finding a good deal is easy if you hunt for those online specials. Most people visit Cape Town as part of a tour of South Africa, otherwise the airfare alone can make it hard to justify. So look into other places you’re interested in visiting while in Africa (We heard Safari’s in Duba, Botswana are the best in the world) and get planning. Starting in May, it gets cooler and rainier, so April is the last good month to visit until November.
Hanoi, a northern inland city near Vietnam’s coast, is one of the few cities in S.E. Asia where it’s not unbearably hot in April. The weather is ideal for short visits to Halong Bay or to Sapa in the mountains. Traveling in Vietnam is quite cheap and the tourist season has died down, so you will get to explore without the crowds. Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City) is brutally hot in April, so if this city is on your bucket list travel to Vietnam at a later date.
